Smoother fantasy character (256x256)

This time I've created this character on a smaller canvas and try to work with more simple shapes than my previous character:

1) Rough design
 2) Refine
 3) Base colour-in

 4) Detail
 5) Highlights
 6) Shading
 7) Background change for better effect

Less of the line... (Work in progress)

Taking more inspiration from 'Little Thief', I am trying out drawing a character but eliminating the strong black outline I use on all my character drawings:

1) First I did a rough line drawing
 2) Then I refined the line so I could begin the colouring
 3) Then I coloured in the character including all the lines
 4) Then I added a belt and some more detail
 5) Then I finished all the shading and highlighting

Pixel Characters

Today I was playing a game on my tablet called 'Tiny Thief' by Roviostars. It is a sneaky strategy game with beautiful simplistic graphics. Its not pixel, but this game gave me inspiration for this work I'm about to show you.

In the game, the characters are made out of simple shapes where the body and the head moulds into one, so I had an idea of creating a body similar to this in some pixel art:

Then after creating a blueprint for the body shape I created a couple of basic characters:

Knight
 Orc
 Gentleman
 Caveman
 Lizard-man
 Pirate

And here's a more realistic sized line-up:

"Disney Pwincess"

My girlfriend has seen a lot of my work in the process, and one time she said "Jake, your always do robots and evil stuff, why can't you draw a..." (and I quote this correctly) "...pwetty Disney pwincess." I wasn't going to draw one of Disney's glamoured up girls but I thought I'd give a go at making my own.

1) First I started off with the basic shapes, pose and features.

2) I then began to add more detail, I was going for a slightly old-fashioned look, hence the pushed up breasts, thin waist and dress enlarging around the rear.

3) I then drew out a final line drawing of the character, including all the features this time.

4) Then came the hair, which I chose to be red.

 5) Then I coloured the face. I left to rest of the skin so I could some  make-up features first.

6) For make-up I added black eye-shadow, green gleam in the eyes and dark purple lipstick.

7) Then the rest of the skin was coloured.

8) Finally the dress was shaded turquoise and the "pwincess" was complete.

Realistic Creeper

I felt like doing some concept art for an already existing character. I used to play a lot of Minecraft, and i noticed a lot of people try drawing the enemy known as a 'Creeper' in a more realistic format. I though I'd give it a go myself. (Note the picture to the left is a screenshot of the original character, I do not own that part of the picture).

1) Getting the figure right

2) Refining the line

3) Colouring

4) Shading and Lighting

5) Extra details

Little Robot

Today, I literally felt like drawing a small, simple, non-violent and working-class robot...

1) First I started with a rough sketch

2) I then applied stronger line

3) I then added a couple of chips to some of the head

4) Then I added the base colour

5) I then added white chips to the metal to most of the parts

6) I then added shading to the colour

7) Then I made LED style lights for the antennas, added glow to the eyes, shine to the solar panels and steam emitting from the lower part of the body

8) And we're done
